Band music emerged in Mexico, at the end of the 19th century, mainly in the state of Sinaloa.

He was inspired by the European military bands that arrived with wind-metal and percussion instruments.

Unlike European military bands, in Mexico it was given a more festive style, adapted to popular music and regional dances.

In the history of the Sinaloa band, the first to mark the genre as such were not soloists, but complete groups, because the band was born as ensemble music

One of the first recognized bands was «Banda El Recodo» by Don Cruz Lizárraga (Founded in 1930 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa).

She is considered «The Mother of All Bands» because she was the first to give commercial and professional form to the genre.

Regional bands existed since the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as the Banda de José Pérez in 1880 and other local groups of Sinaloa. But these were mainly village bands or patron saint festivals, without recordings or national projection.
